Our Reference System:
MotherBoard: GA-586HX512 (Giga-Byte), 430HX, 512 kByte Burst Cache, 4ISA/4PCI, 6 SIMM Slots/4Banks (up to 512 MByte), No Jumpers (but DIP Switches), Auto Processor Identification, Flash BIOS. Very fast and very stable.
Memory: 2 x 16 MByte EDO DRAM, 60ns
Hard Disk: Quantum FireBall, 1.7 GByte, E-IDE
sVGA Card: Hercules Dynamite-128 (ET6000), 4.5 MByte MDRAM, PCI
Op. System: MS DOS 6.22 + MS Windows for WorkGroups 3.11

General Notice:
  • I use the Intel 486DX-33MHz processor in Windows and in Quake performance order as a reference, because it was (in my opinion) the first x86 compatible processor, that could give the performance to run Microsoft Windows 3.1x with not just having pain.
