Pete turned down Zeta Jones

Posted on Wednesday, 2nd April 2003 at 09:38 BST by Neil Wilkes

OTV manager Pete Waterman has revealed his biggest regret -- passing up the opportunity to sign a young Catherine Zeta Jones.

The pair met in 1993 when Zeta Jones was starring in the Darling Buds Of May alongside David Jason and Pam Ferris.

"She had written some songs and insisted on using them but I told her that I write the hits and itís my way or not at all," Pete told The Sun today. "In the end, I offered the song I had written for her to twins Gayle and Gillian Blakeney, who were Neighbours stars at the time. Not signing Catherine was the biggest mistake of my life, but I wish her well."
