Baby joy for Hollywood couple

"They're all doing fantastic" - publicist Cece Yorke
Baby joy for Hollywood couple
8.04AM BST, 22 Apr 2003

Hollywood couple Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas are celebrating the arrival of a healthy baby girl.

Oscar winner Zeta Jones gave birth to 6lb 12oz Carys on Sunday morning near the Manhattan home she shares with Douglas and their two-year-old son Dylan.

Her publicist Cece Yorke said: "They're all doing fantastic."

Zeta Jones, 33, won an Oscar last month for Best Supporting Actress in the musical Chicago.

Born in Swansea, Zeta Jones's first success came in 1990 when she landed the role of Mariette Larkin in The Darling Buds of May.

She went on to star in The Mask of Zorro, Entrapment and Traffic.

Zeta Jones and Douglas married at the Plaza Hotel in New York in November 2000, signing an exclusive deal for coverage with OK! magazine.

When rival magazine Hello! published unauthorised photographs of the wedding, the couple took legal action, which ended earlier this month with both sides claiming victory.

The High Court judge ruled Hello! breached the couple's rights of confidence but said they had no claim in law on an invasion of privacy. Damages have not yet been assessed.
