Carys - who also has the middle name Zeta - is the 33-year-old Oscar winner's second child with husband Michael Douglas, 58.
Their son Dylan was born in August 2000.
Carys is from the Welsh word for love.
Zeta from Swansea, added: "I now have two great-granddaughters and five great-grandsons and they're all special.
"Each child brings with it a lot of love. Each one is a gift and I think Carys will bring a great deal of happiness with her."
She said she is looking forward to seeing Carys, who was born four days ago in New Jersey, when the couple visit Wales.
