24 JULY 2003
Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman is apparently too busy to be married to Brad Pitt. The Australian star has dropped out of two high-profile projects, including a role as the sexy hunk's wife in the upcoming film, Mr And Mrs Smith.

Nicole was set to play opposite Brad in the story of a bored married couple who suddenly discover they are both assassins, but her agenda is so packed she has seven films to be released between now and 2005 she's opting out of the flick. Though some reports say producers are trying to work around the red-hot star's schedule, Chicago's Catherine Zeta-Jones is tipped to be her big screen replacement.

Meanwhile, the 36-year-old has also pulled out of the sequel of the Lars Von Triers film, Dogville, which was screened at Cannes this year. Though she had planned to star in Manderlay the second film in the planned trilogy producers are now looking for two new actresses to complete the remaining instalments.

"We just want a good actress wherever she's from," said producer Vibeke Windelov. "When we started out with Nicole, she was not such a big movie star as she has now become."

Among Nicole's upcoming releases are The Human Stain with Sir Anthony Hopkins, Cold Mountain alongside Jude Law, a remake of The Stepford Wives and Baz Luhrman's Alexander The Great co-starring Leonardo diCaprio and Mel Gibson.
