Catherine Zeta Jones and George Clooney head the list of film stars at the 60th Venice Film Festival.
The pair were supporting the latest Coen brothers film, Intolerable Cruelty, which is being screened out of competition at the festival.
British star Keira Knightley is also in Venice to promote Love Actually. She appears in the romantic comedy with Hugh Grant, Martine McCutcheon, Alan Rickman, Liam Neeson, and Colin Firth.
Nicolas Cage is promoting Ridley Scott's new film Matchstick Men which premiered out of competition and was well-received by critics and public alike.
Cage plays a conman with obsessive-compulsive disorder, alongside his protege, played by Sam Rockwell, and teenage daughter, played by Alison Lohman.
More than 140 films will be screened during the festival, many of them world premieres, but only 20 movies are facing off in the main competition for the Golden Lion, which will be awarded on Saturday.
They include Michael Winterbottom's sci-fi tale Code 46, which stars Tim Robbins and Samantha Morton.
