LOS ANGELES Sept 26 - Oscar-winning British actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has sued a French cosmetics firm for $15 million over claims it made alleging that she buys its products, court documents showed Thursday.

In the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles on Wednesday, the wife of movie star Michael Douglas accused Caudalie, which produces wine-based beauty products, of wrongly stating on its website that she used their creams and potions.

The ``Chicago'' star said the firm had claimed she ``was spotted buying the complete Caudalie range of skincare,'' while she has never used its products or spa services, and had never agreed to let the company use her name.

The US-based Neiman-Marcus Group Inc. - which sells Caudalie's products and where the actress was allegedly spotted buying them - was also named as a defendant along with a firm that owns luxury condominiums in Las Vegas.

The sin-city based Turnberry Place condominiums house a Caudalie spa, the and the company's promotional literature states that the skin care company's followers include Zeta-Jones, according to the suit.

Zeta-Jones, 34, alleges that both Neiman-Marcus and Turnberry Place spread Caudalie's claims about the star's interest in their products.

She claims Neiman-Marcus joined Caudalie in the ``online exploitation'' by posting an interview with Caudalie founder Mathilde Thomas, who said Zeta-Jones was among the celebrities who bought the products. - AFP
