SHE may be an Oscar-winning actress but Catherine Zeta Jones is no domestic goddess.
Apparently the star is such a danger in the kitchen that she once almost burned down one of her luxurious homes.
Now her husband, Hollywood legend Michael Douglas, has allegedly barred her from the kitchen.
According to reports on the showbiz website, peoplenews.com, Swansea- born Zeta Jones decided to try her hand at cooking but within minutes a burning smell had filled the room, which was closely followed by flames.
"My reaction was not to use the extinguisher, which is right on the left hand side of the cooker, but to run out of the apartment and wait by the elevator," she said.
According to reports, the terrified actress then waited for the fire engine to arrive and put out the blaze.
"Michael said to me, 'Please honey, don't go in the kitchen any more' but with a young family now in tow, the importance of not risking the preparation of any meals has become even more vital.
"I didn't have my kids at that point but I'm sure I would have picked them up if I did."
Zeta Jones, who won an Oscar earlier this year for her performance in Chicago, is now concentrating on her film career instead of trying to emulate the talents of the realdomestic goddess, Nigella Lawson.
Later this month, Zeta Jones's new film, Intolerable Cruelty, in which she stars opposite George Clooney, will be screened in the UK.
It is her first film to be released since the birth of her baby daughter Carys Zeta six months ago.
She and Douglas, who celebrate their third wedding anniversary next month, also have a three-year-old son, Dylan.
The Douglases have homes in America and Majorca but they are also having a £1m mansion built in Zeta Jones's native city Swansea.
It is believed her parents will live in the home and the famous couple will use it as a base when they visit the UK.
But it seems that one thing's for sure, you can guarantee that the actress will not be allowed anywhere near thekitchen in her luxurious new house.
