|The Walt Disney Concert Hall opens tonight with a star-studded performance with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
The inaugural concert at the Philharmonic's new home features the world premiere of Soundings by John Williams.
Special guests will include Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
The Walt Disney concert Hall was dedicated on Monday. The striking building, designed by architect Frank Gehry, cost $276 million to build.
Gehry designed the 2,265-seat hall before he began work on the acclaimed Guggehheim Museum in Bilbao. The project began in 1987, when Walt Disney's widow Lillian donated $50 million towards the cost of the hall.
The main auditorium holds a massive pipe organ resembling a huge bundle of sticks. It has 6,125 pipes and will not be finished for another year.
The building also holds the 250-seat 250-seat Roy and Edna Disney-CalArts Theater (REDCAT) and a number of smaller spaces for educational events.
