British tabloid wins rival over wedding photos

LONDON : British celebrity gossip magazine OK! has won its case against rival Hello! for the unauthorised pictures it published of Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas' wedding.

The couple had signed a million-pound deal with OK! for the exclusive rights to photograph their nuptials held at New York's Plaza Hotel.

However paparazzi photographers had gatecrashed the lavish wedding in 2000 and then sold the photos to Hello!.

Earlier in the April hearing, Zeta-Jones said she was "devastated, shocked and appalled" on knowing that unauthorised intruders had snapped photos of the wedding and had sold them to Hello!.

The magazine was later found guilty of breaching the couple's rights of confidence by the London High Court.

The couple were awarded only 14,600 pounds on Friday, a paltry sum as compared to the 600,000 pounds they reaped for stress over the publication of the photos.

On the other hand, OK! won 1.75 million pounds from Hello!. - CNA
