Now dear, go to the man and he'll give you a big shiny award
When you get a lifetime achievement award in the movie world, it usually means you’re not long for this world.

The standard is for a doddery old star to get a five-minute standing ovation as we watch faded clips of their finest moments from a 1925 silent movie.

So nothing’s new when Michael Douglas steps forward to collect the Cecil B DeMille Award at the 61st annual Golden Globes.

The Hollywood Reporter claims the award recognises outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry and since Dougie-boy dyed his hair that weird colour in 1994, he has certainly done that.

Glamorous young wife Catherine Zeta Jones will, no doubt, be on hand to help Michael on stage, and perhaps wipe a tear from the eyes of the emotional but somewhat bemused legend.

For the record, Douglas has bagged two previous Golden Globes as an actor for Wall Street and as a producer for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and has been nominated an additional four times.

Catherine has a lovely pair of Golden Globes.
