Country singer Tim McGraw will headline the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize Concert on Dec. 11 in Oslo, Norway.
The event is in honor of this year's winner Shirin Ebadi, one of Iran's first female judges and the first Muslim woman ever to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. The Nobel Committee honored Ebadi for her work on behalf of democracy and the rights of women and children.
Oscar winners Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones will host the event. McGraw's concert will be preceded by remarks from the 2002 Peace Prize winner, former President Jimmy Carter.
The concert has drawn a star-studded cast, including Irish folk band the Chieftains accompanied by Rosanne Cash , the daughter of country music legend Johnny Cash ; opera stars Roberto Alagna and Angela Gheorghiu; Senegal's Orchestra Baobab; and Broadway performer Martin Yates.
Norwegian singer-songwriter Lene Marlin and Swedish pop group the Cardigans are also scheduled to play.
The whole thing will be taped for broadcast in the United States on the A&E Network, on Sunday, Dec 21.
