WASHINGTON: Some of the Hollywood stars have been categorized as misers in "Star" magazine. Welsh beauty Catherine Zeta Jones is number one on the list.
She was mocked for bidding a paltry 25 dollars for Paul Mc Cartney's autograph at Los Angeles's "Adopt-A-Minefield" charity auction this year. Zeta Jones said, "It's so embarrassing. I'm a cheap Welsh girl with good morals. It wasn't until after I raised my hand and bid that I realized how stupid I was. I am thrifty by nature."
The second position is for none other than the "Pretty Woman" star, Julia Roberts. When Julia tied the knot with Danny Moder at her ranch at Taos, in 2002, she relied on Wal-Mart and Ace hardware for last-minute decorating supplies, including a 150 dollars wood porch swing and about 200 dollars for additional plants.
Once when Julia fell in love with a vintage dress at a second-hand store in New York, she bartered her jeans to buy it.
Faye Dunway is number three on the misers list. She lives in a modest Hollywood house and was recently charging strangers 3,000 dollars a month to rent out her guest - house.
Faye is also very fond of discounts. Once at Hollywood's "ArcLight" movie theatre where the ticket is priced at 14 dollars, she was heard telling the cashier, "You don't know who I am, do you? The cashier said she did, and Faye responded, "Then what's my discount?" The cashier did not budge an inch and Faye had to pay full price for the movie.
