Zeta Jones biography blocked

Dec 27 2003

Catrin Pascoe, The Western Mail

AN unauthorised biography of Catherine Zeta Jones has been scrapped after the publishers backed out following letters from her lawyers.

Celebrity biographer Cliff Goodwin has been forced to ditch the idea - when solicitors acting on behalf of the Holly-wood star fired off a series of letters threatening legal action to himself and his publishers.

Virgin Publishing has now shelved plans to release the 256-page book called simply Catherine Zeta Jones: The Biography.

Veteran British writer Goodwin who has already written biographies of actors Richard Harris and Sid James, found the process increasingly difficult. He also received solicitors' letters.

Zeta Jones's parents, who still live in Mayals, Swansea, rarely speak to the Press and her close family and friends would not open up to him.
