Shows what a little exposure will do

SHOWS WHAT A LITTLE EXPOSURE WILL DO: Justin Timberlake, fresh off his Super Bowl halftime shenanigans and Grammy awards, is taking his talents to the big screen. Timberlake, 22, will star with Kevin Spacey, Morgan Freeman and LL Cool J in "Edison." Shooting is to begin March 8 in Vancouver, British Columbia, with the film scheduled for release next year.

"After many years of looking at many scripts, he's decided on what we think is a terrific project," Timberlake's publicist, Ken Sunshine, told The Associated Press. "You can judge by the quality of the people associated with the film the direction he's headed as he begins his film career."

The 'N Sync singer will play a young journalist who discovers an elite team of corrupt police. Freeman plays the veteran reporter who helps him, and Spacey plays the district attorney's top investigator.

GET CASTING: Actor Colin Farrell slipped and fell on the stairway of his Bangkok hotel over the weekend. Farrell, who is in Thailand filming the epic "Alexander," was fitted with a foot cast and released from a hospital. He went back to the set Monday and filming for the movie was expected to wrap up in two days.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY?: The New York Post reports that Catherine Zeta-Jones has discarded her long William Morris agent, George Freeman, because hubby Michael Douglas told her that she could win another Oscar only by dumping Freeman.

"It is shocking," the Post quotes one source. "George took this little-known British actress that no one cared about and made her into an Oscar winner. She is an ungrateful diva who has not had a career misstep and it is inconceivable that she would (treat) George like this. He just got her $10 million for 'Zorro II.'"

The source added: "A lot of this was Michael's doing. He pecked away at Catherine, saying, 'Why didn't you get this part? Why didn't you get that part?' "

Zeta-Jones is jealous of Nicole Kidman's career, the Post's deep throat speculates. "Nicole gets first look at every script," the source said. "Catherine doesn't. Nicole and Catherine had very similar careers until Nicole's divorce from Tom Cruise. Then audiences found her sympathetic. No one finds Catherine a very sympathetic character or as likable."

But a friend of Zeta-Jones said: "Listen, George is a nice guy, but after she won her Oscar for 'Chicago,' he didn't get her any work."

KIDMAN'S CANCER SCARE: Nicole, meanwhile, has been given the all-clear following a terrifying breast cancer scare last month, reports IMDB.com. The Oscar-winning beauty ("The Hours") was sent for further tests after doctors spotted a suspicious area during a routine checkup. But fortunately, Kidman, 36, was found to be in perfect health.

"The results of those tests were negative and I was given the all-clear," she said. "Needless to say, my family and I are enormously relieved and thankful."

The "Cold Mountain" star is committed to raising funds for women's health issues and is set to be honored by the Women's Cancer Research Fund in a ceremony March 1.

SHOW STOPPER: Designer Lloyd Klein was seriously injured in a car accident in Paris, forcing the cancellation of his show Monday night at New York's Fashion Week. Klein, who turns 35 this week, came out of a coma Monday afternoon, two days after the crash in which three of his staff members and his mother also were injured.

Klein's mother broke a shoulder but has been discharged from hospital. The three injured employees were to be discharged Monday or Tuesday, said John Arguelles, president of Groupe Klein Vendome, the French designer's holding company. Klein himself remained in critical condition in intensive care in a Paris hospital.
