Zeta-jones Seeks Ugly Role
March 18, 2004 - World Entertainment News Network

Movie beauty Catherine Zeta-Jones is seeking an unglamorous, ugly role in the hope of securing a future Best Actress Oscar win.

The Welsh actress won a Best Supporting Actress gong for her performance of murderer Velma Kellyin the hit musical Chicago last year but still believes she has to prove her acting credibility to Hollywood skeptics.

According to British tabloid The Daily Mail, Zeta-Jones has been begging Monster writer and director Patty Jenkins for a role as a gritty female builder in a forthcoming movie, after seeing South African stunner Charlize Theron win an Academy Award for playing unattractive serial killer Aileen Wuornos last month.

A film insider says, "Catherine is tired of her glamorous image and saw what an amazing job Patty did with Charlize - not least helping her win an Oscar."
