Zeta loss over £1m pad

ACTRESS Catherine Zeta Jones has lost a fight to stop a businessman running his company close to her holiday mansion.

Councillors voted to let Steve Gwynn carry on using a garage on the same estate as her £1.1million pad, in her home village of Mumbles in Swansea.

A letter from her solicitor said Catherine, 34 — who lives in America with husband Michael Douglas — bought the plot “on the clear understanding it would be private, prestigious, exclusive and safe”.

But Labour councillor Des Thomas argued: “If they wanted peace and security, why didn’t they buy somewhere else in a place like Llandeilo?”

Mr Gwynn, who runs a telecommunications company, said the increase of traffic caused by his staff was far less than the amount of tourists who flock to see the stars’ mansion.

He was yesterday granted permission to use the building for another two years at least.
