Catherine: granny's girl

NEW KNEES FOR ZETA
Catherine Zeta-Jones has given her gran a new lease of life by buying her a new pair of knees for Christmas.

The mega-rich star paid for the 86-year-old - also called Zeta - to have the operation done privately.

Catherine told US chat show host Jay Leno that her grandma is now running around "like a little whippet."

She and husband Michael Douglas decided on the bizarre gift after Zeta revealed that she needed knee replacements but could not face the operation.

Catherine, 34, told Leno: "She didn't want the whole anaesthetic thing."

But a doctor was found who could perform the surgery using an epidural injection, which numbs the spine.

Gran Zeta said at her home in Swansea: "Catherine's a very generous girl, always helping people."
