NEW DELHI: The 2004 International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is all set to move into its permanent venue, Goa, this November with the authorities sorting out their dispute with the local green groups.

The environmentalists who were resisting the plan to turn Goa into India's Cannes have been appeased by abandoning a construction project that became the point of discord.

I&B ministry sources, however, insist that the "modification" is at no cost to their grand plans for the event. "A closer scrutiny showed that we could do without the construction that was the sore point for the environmentalists."

The dates for the 35th IFFI has been fixed. The show opens on November 29 and will be on till December 9.

The Directorate of Film Festivals of India is already working at making a real splash with the Goa festival since the guest-of-honour list begins with no less an attraction than femme fatale Catherine Zeta-Jones.

The deadline for international entries is September 10, 2004.

The opening ceremony will be held at Kala Academy in Panaji, which will be the main screening venue for delegates.

The deadline for international entries is September 10, 2004, but it can be relaxed for exceptional entries, says festival director Neelam Kapoor.

Public screenings of international and national fare will be at the multiplex situated behind the old Goa Medical College.
