Actress Catherine Zeta Jones is due to give evidence at a US court in the case of a woman accused of stalking and threatening to kill her.
Zeta Jones is married to actor Michael Douglas
Dawnette Knight, 32, is accused of 26 stalking offences against the star, who won an Oscar for her role in Chicago.
Zeta Jones' husband Michael Douglas is also expected to take the stand at Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday.
Judges have to decide if there is enough evidence for Knight to stand trial. She is currently on bail.
Ms Knight, who was arrested at her Beverly Hills home on 3 June, has pleaded not guilty to making criminal threats and stalking.
The threats were allegedly made in letters to Zeta Jones' father-in-law, film legend Kirk Douglas.
Detective Teresa Garrett told the court on Monday that an "obituary style" letter was sent to Mr Douglas senior.
Dawnette Knight has said she is sorry for any "distress"
She said Zeta Jones "was very afraid for herself and her family".
Police also said two death threats against the actress were made over the phone to a hotel in Bermuda where Michael Douglas had a financial interest.
The first call on 18 March allegedly involved a woman who said to tell Douglas, "we are going to kill his wife, kill that bitch".
Ms Knight's lawyer, Richard Herman, said outside the court that Ms Knight had a "girlish crush on Michael Douglas" but was "not convinced my client wrote all the letters".
He said prosecutors were treating the case differently because it involved someone famous.
But a spokesman for the district attorney's office said: "We're not beholden to anyone. We felt that the evidence was there and we filed a case."
Dawnette Knight said she was obsessed with Michael Douglas
Ms Knight faces a maximum of 19 years in prison if convicted.
Mr Herman revealed last month that Ms Knight had written to Zeta Jones and Kirk Douglas apologising for any "distress" she may have caused.
The letter said Ms Knight was infatuated with Zeta Jones' husband.
"I was a confused young woman infatuated with Michael Douglas and have no rational explanations for my actions," she wrote.
Her letter to the actress said she would "have never done anyone any harm and would never harm anyone" but admitted her obsession with Michael Douglas.
"It would be a wonderful good deed if you would all forgive me so that I can go back to college to finish my studies in child psychology," she pleaded to Zeta Jones.
