Zeta-Jones and Kidman snub red carpet job
12/08/2004 - 13:37:03

Hollywood A-listers Catherine Zeta-Jones and Nicole Kidman were shocked when US cable network E! approached them to be presenters.

The station is desperately seeking replacements for catty duo Joan and Melissa Rivers, who interviewed celebrities on the red carpet of award ceremonies and premieres, but left this year to go to the TV Guide Channel.

A source tells American gossip site pagesix.com: "E! wrote to Catherine Zeta-Jones and Nicole Kidman asking if they wanted to do the red-carpet thing.

"Of course Catherine and Nicole said no. E! needs to do something fast.

“It has exclusive rights to the red carpet at the Emmys (in September) and they have to have someone good so everyone will watch and forget Joan."

A representative for E! said: "I can't confirm or deny."
