Hollywood has arrived in Venice for the next couple of weeks.
The Venice Film Festival is the oldest of all the festivals and so always attracts huge names. Robert De Niro, Angelina Jolie, Will Smith, John Travolta and Al Pacino are due there over the next two weeks and Brad Pitt's rumoured to be holding a party.
Catherine Zeta Jones and Tom Hanks kicked it off - they attended the European premiere of their new film 'The Terminal'. Tom plays a man with a very dodgy russian accent who gets stuck at an airport after a coup in his country means none of his paperwork is valid any more.
The film didn't do very well in the States, despite the fact it's directed by Steven Spielberg and Tom and Catherine are in it. She's the love interest and provides the eye candy - something which didn't pass Mr Hanks by:
"You know not only was she a hotty but she was in uniform. I mean that is something. I mean any man could react to the idea of the stewardess of everyone's dreams. There's something about those blue skirts and those pill box hats."
Tom's character has a Russian accent, which he said he stuck to even when the camera wasn't rolling:
"I go to shoot film with Steven, Steven Spielberg, big, big, big shot man. What you want me do? - I was doing that all the time, it was just easier to come and go."
