Superstar plans Ariel stunt for Christmas

By James Whittaker
(News from 2004-12-10 Edition)

MOVIE STAR Catherine Zeta-Jones will strip down to her bathing suit this Christmas and swim out to sea to place a Santa hat on the statue of Ariel – just off Bermuda’s shoreline.
The Oceans Twelve star told U.S. talk show host Jay Leno that she and husband Michael Douglas would be spending Christmas on the island with their extended family.
The couple part-own the Ariel Sands resort and apparently the statue swim is a family Christmas tradition.
Ms. Zeta-Jones shared her Christmas plans with six million viewers on NBC’s Tonight Show, aired on Wednesday, telling them the family would be keeping it simple, “Just doing what every other family does. Eat too much and drink too much,” she said.
The 35 year-old Welsh actress, who stars alongside Hollywood hunks Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Matt Damon in the eagerly anticipated sequel to Oceans Eleven, has no problem taking her clothes off. Speaking to Harpers Bazaar magazine recently she said she loves walking around naked. “I’m not embarrassed about my body,” she said. Ms. Zeta-Jones’ friends and family could be in for a surprise when they open their gifts on Christmas morning. According to Britain’s The Sun newspaper she’s been knitting ponchos. The paper said she knitted 15 ponchos while shooting the sequel to Mask of Zorro with Antonio Banderas in Mexico.
