Get to know me
Who is she? Colleen, 17, of Rockford is a senior at Boylan Catholic High School. She is a part of the National Honor Society, Key Club and the 4-H Club, and serves as president of In Youth We Trust, a youth philanthropy organization that is associated with the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois. She is the daughter of Michael and Janet Kagan.
What's next? In Youth We Trust is working on selecting bands for the "Youth Charity Jam" in April. Proceeds go to the Community Foundation's College Scholarship Fund.
What are your plans for college? I was accepted to the three colleges I applied to, but I'm still undecided. I'm really excited. I want major in psychology and be pre-med.
Ideal way to spend a weekend in Rockford: Supporting my school by going to the various sporting events and hanging out with my friends. I also like to go see a movie or go to Barnes & Noble.
Last good book you read: "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" by Ken Kesey.
Favorite movie: "Napoleon Dynamite."
What are you watching on TV? "The O.C." and "Arrested Development."
Five items you can't live without: My computer, car, cell phone, my agenda or daily planner, e-mail/Internet.
What is a memory that always makes you laugh? This is really embarrassing. In seventh grade, I was in a play at school and the role required me to sing. I have a terrible singing voice; it's so bad that they played a tape and I had to lip sync the song. People knew I was lip syncing, but it was probably better than them actually having to hear me.
What is the first thing you do after you come home from school? I check my e-mail and the postal mail.
What is something people would be surprised to learn about you? When I was little I really wanted to be a chef.
If they made a movie of your life, who would play you? The actress I would love to play me, because she is gorgeous, is Catherine Zeta-Jones, but that's a little unlikely. They would probably have to cast an unknown actress to play me, because I don't fit the Hollywood mold right now. It would probably be a comedian because I always like funny movies. I could never make a serious movie about my life. It would have to be a comedy.
Something you've always wanted to do: I've always wanted to travel through Europe.
Favorite saying: There are so many. I quote from everything. Lately, I've been quoting from "Anchorman." If there is a difficult question in class I will say, "Knights of Columbus," or "By the Beard of Zeus."
