24 FEBRUARY 2005

Comedienne Dawn French, aka the Vicar of Dibley, had the audience "in hysterics" when she did a take-off of Welsh glamourpuss Catherine Zeta-Jones at a London fundraiser.

Clad in Catherine's trademark black with plunging décolletage, and sporting glossy tresses styled à la Zeta-Jones, the voluptuous Miss French paraded her curves and poked fun at the Hollywood actress in a mock Welsh accent, much to the delight of the audience.

It was a rare stand-up appearance for Dawn, who is shortly to start work on a musical play with her friend of 20 years, singer Alison Moyet. Her turn as the glamorous Mrs Douglas took place at Comic Aid, a comedy version of the Live Aid event, whose procceds will go to victims of the tsunami.
