Woman admits stalking Zeta Jones
Dawnette Knight
Knight could now face up to five years in jail
A woman in the US has admitted charges of stalking British actress Catherine Zeta Jones.

Dawnette Knight, 33, entered a plea of no contest for one count of stalking and three counts of making criminal threats at a court in Los Angeles.

Knight could now face up to five years in jail.

The court heard she wrote to Zeta Jones' agent and to her husband Michael Douglas, saying she would "slice her up ...and feed her to the dogs".

Protective order

Knight, who had been arrested in her home on 3 June last year, had originally faced 24 counts of making criminal threats, but 21 of these were later dismissed.

Judge David Mintz ordered Knight to undergo state evaluation from the Department of Corrections for 90 days to see whether she should go to prison or serve probation.

The judge also said he planned to issue a protective order banning Knight from going near Zeta Jones for up to 10 years.

Zeta Jones said she suffered an anxiety attack from the threats

The actress had given testimony last year, saying she had had to increase her security after learning of the letters.

She also said she had suffered an anxiety attack after receiving two aggressive phone calls while filming Ocean's 12 in Amsterdam.

"I remember at that moment I began to shake and sweat. As the day went on it got progressively worse," she said. "This has affected me and it will affect me the rest of my life."

Knight had later apologised to Zeta Jones in another letter, saying she was "in love" with Douglas.

Knight's pre-trial hearing was adjourned last year after she took an overdose of barbiturates. She has been in custody since her arrest and had been denied bail because of her behaviour.

She is due to be sentenced on 3 June.
