Catherine Zeta Jones Shoots Down Dallas Rumors
Oscar-winner and Swansea-born actress Catherine Zeta Jones is trying to squash rumors that she has signed on to play Pamela Ewing in the big screen movie based on the American night-time soap opera Dallas. The hit TV series that ran in for three decades in America is now being developed into a feature length film and is in pre-production.
But a spokeswoman for Zeta Jones dismissed claims that she has a role in the proposed "Dallas the movie."
"There is absolutely no truth at all to that rumor. Mrs. Zeta Jones is not starring in the movie version of Dallas. You will note that our industry papers of record, Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, have not reported this as there is no truth to the story."
Leaks and rumors are surrounding the cast and the BBC notes that Brad Pitt may be playing Bobby Ewing, other reports have Burt Reynolds as playing J.R. Ewing [originally played by Larry Hagman] and Melanie Griffith is reportedly going to take on the role of JR's wife, Sue Ellen.
The big screen version of Dallas is set to open in American theaters in late 2006.
