Geri's Unlucky Streak

Seems Geri Halliwell isn't having much luck lately.

Not only has her new solo album flopped but she's been told she can't take part in a new celebrity golfing special, due to be broadcast on Sky One.

The All-Star Cup, which will hit screens in August, is set to be a star-studded affair, with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas teeing off alongside the likes of Samuel L Jackson and Sylvester Stallone.

DJ Chris Evans - with whom Geri had a brief fling in 1999 - is also taking part.

So what's the problem? Well, the big name celebs involved are all experienced golfers - whereas Geri's not such a pro.

But she didn't want a little thing like not knowing one end of a golf club from the other to stand in her way and, according to The Mirror, she was prepared to resort to desperate measures to get on the show.

"When her people contacted the programme makers to tell them that she was keen to be in it, the show bosses said it was really for big name stars who were experienced golfers," a source told the paper.

"They said that Geri was willing to take a crash course in golf in order to take part in the show. That's how keen she was to be included."

However, the makers of the show were having none of it and declined Geri's offer.

"The golfing standards of the contestants have to be up to a certain level," a Sky spokesman told The Mirror.

The show, which will be hosted by Ant and Dec, will be screened over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
