Sharon Stone upset to lose
role to Catherine Zeta Jones
Sharon Stone is said to be furious after Catherine Zeta Jones
beat her to a movie role. The brunette beauty will play movie
star Lana Turner in a film about the actress's romance with a
gangster - but Stone insists the role should have been hers.
The 47-year-old blonde met Turner before she died of throat
cancer in 1995 - and claims the screen legend wanted Stone to
portray her in any movie about her life. The 'Basic Instinct'
star had reportedly been in the running for the coveted role
for several years before losing the part to Zeta.
Stone revealed: "She said if there was a film to be made on
her life, then I was her choice." She is also quoted on the
MSNBC website as saying: "I met Lana in her final years and
liked her a great deal. She was every inch the great movie
star and we got along really well."
The upcoming film will look at eight-times married Turner's
marriage to gangster Johnny Stompanato, who will be played by
