Dallas/Bond Casting Possibilities ::09.28.05::
Posted by: Liam Source: Variety

Dallas/Bond Casting PossibilitiesNews today on some possible casting in a couple of upcoming movies.

We'll start first with James Bond. We've been hearing some of these names for a while now (frankly, I'm pretty bored with it) but apparently the short list for the role of Bond now includes Daniel Craig, Henry Cavill, Sam Worthington and Goran Visnjic. Screen tests are being completed this week and an announcement could come any time. Production on the next film in the franchise, Casino Royale, is set to begin in January under the direction of Martin Campbell.

Next comes some casting speculation on director Robert Luketic's upcoming big screen version of Dallas, a lot of which depends on Sacha Gervasi delivering a rewrite of the previous Robert Harling script. Casting goes something like this:

J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman): John Travolta has been mentioned before as a frontrunner for the role, although people associated with the film say it "isn't a certainty". Some other interesting names associated with the role include Mel Gibson, Kevin Costner and recently Tommy Lee Jones.

Sue Ellen (Linda Gray): Catherine Zeta-Jones is currently the leading candidate for the role, but Demi Moore and Jennifer Lopez have also shown interest.

Bobby Ewing (Patrick Duffy): Matthew McConaughey and Owen Wilson are said to have been courted to play the role of J.R.'s brother.

Pamela (Victoria Principal): Producers have their eyes on either Drew Barrymore or Reese Witherspoon.

Lucy (Charlene Tilton): Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Simpson and Mandy Moore are possible candidates for this role.

Miss Ellie (Barbara Bel Geddes): Jane Fonda (who starred in Luketic's Monster-In-Law) is up for the role of the matriarch of the Ewing clan.

Looking at all the names attached to Dallas, I can't help but be a little skeptical. It just seems like too many big name stars for a remake of a TV show. I could be completely off base, but I won't believe it until I see it. I just hope it doesn't turn into another case where we have to listen to these rumors for the next few years.
