GOLF FAN JODIE'S ALMOST A FLYAWAY BIRDIE
HANG ON TO YOUR BROLLY, IT'S BREEZY OUT THERE
By David Mccarthy

NEWLYWED model Jodie Kidd was nearly swept off her feet again yesterday.

The sporty beauty was out on the Old Course at St Andrews for a practice round before the pro-am Dunhill Links Championship.

But before 27-year-old Jodie could even get her clubs out, she was battling to keep her brolly under control in the high winds.

The model, who is also a skilled polo player and racing driver, married entrepreneur Aidan Butler this month.

She was one of a host of glamorous celebrities who were not letting the miserable weather put them off their golf yesterday.

Hollywood superstar Michael Douglas, who will partner Colin Montgomerie in the championship, which starts today, is even plotting his return to Scotland. He says his dream role is in a golf movie based here.

Douglas, 61, who plays off an 11 handicap, thinks it would be the ideal excuse to spend months in Scotland and play golf a lot.

He said: "I'm still searching for the script I want and if it is set in Scotland, will be over here in a flash."

The actor yesterday waved wife Catherine Zeta Jones off on a European promotional tour. But he promised the Welsh actress, who shares his passion for golf, will be back to play in the Dunhill Links again.

He said: "She couldn't this year because she is starring in the sequel to Zorro, which is opening soon.

"She had to go to a promotion in Germany and France.

"But she would like to have played this year and is improving all the time. She hasn't beat me, though. Not yet anyway
