London: Winning an Oscar might have been easier for veteran actor Michael Douglas than winning his future wife Catherine Zeta Jones’ heart, as she consciously held back to keep him interested in her and only kissed him after nine months since their first date.
“I’m sure he thought I was a man in drag. At some point he was like, something is a little off here,” Femalefirst quoted her as revealing on a US chat show.
Swansea-born Catherine met the ‘Fatal Attraction’ star at the Deauville Film Festival in France where she was promoting Zorro, and Douglas had become besotted by the unknown woman he’d seen playing the fiery Elena Montero. A whirlwind courtship followed that led to her marrying the 61-year-old Hollywood star.
The couple wed five years ago, but describing their courtship, Catherine said: “I was a good Welsh girl.”
