Aniston: "Split from Pitt Was Over-Hyped"
insists the media have over-hyped her split from ex-husband Brad Pitt
- calling their divorce "a very peaceful thing". The Derailed
star is baffled by the soap opera created by their well-publicized break-up and Pitt's subsequent romance with Angelina Jolie
- because she still speaks to her ex-husband. Aniston told American talk show host Diane Sawyer
, "Do I talk to Brad? Yes we do, I do." She adds of the split, "It's a very peaceful thing. That's what's so unfortunate. You know people want it to be this war, this mean, terrible, shallow thing that is just some soap opera storyline, and it's just not."

Spears "Fraud" Dismissed in Court
A lawsuit claiming pop star Britney Spears
plagiarized her hit record "Sometimes" have been dismissed by a judge in Indianapolis, Indiana. Songwriter Steve Wallace alleged the 23-year-old stole and copyrighted his track, originally penned in 1990, and released her version on her 1999 debut album Baby One More Time
, and on 2004's Greatest Hits: My Prerogative
. Wallace maintained that a few weeks after finishing his song, he executed what is known as a 'poor man's' copyright - sealing his work in an envelope and obtaining a postmark - making Spears' later copyright void. But his suit was thrown out by US District Judge John D. Tinder last week, despite a side-by-side comparison of the songs in court showing a striking resemblance. Spears' lawyer David R. Baum quashed rumors the two parties had reached a financial settlement. He said, "I cannot emphasize enough this was not a settlement but a dismissal."
Jackson's Father Supports His Bahrain Move

's father Joseph supports his son's decision to set up home in Bahrain, because the patriarch was disgusted by the Thriller
singer's treatment during his child molestation trial. The 47-year-old flew to Bahrain shortly after being acquitted of the charges leveled against him, and spent time there as a guest of the crown prince Sheik Salman IBN Hamed Khalifa. Jackson is now planning to sell his Neverland home in California, and make Bahrain his official headquarters. His father says, "He'll come back to (America to) visit, but not to stay, not to live. They didn't treat him right here. I know if I was him, I wouldn't come back." And Joseph has hinted Michael is considering a musical reunion with his brothers when he finishes work on his charity single which will feature a host of artists including R. Kelly
and Snoop Dogg
. He adds, "I'm trying to motivate (his brothers) to go ahead and do this record. They want to do it, but they're too slow. They'd rather do it with Michael."

He says, "Even though we filmed the first Zorro movie nine years ago, I kept the sword. I won't say where I keep it, but it's in a strategic spot in my home. I truly pity the burglar who shows up at my house! Though I wonder what I'd tell the authorities... 'Officer, he tried to rob me, so I cut a giant Z into him!" He adds, "If a boy gets out of line with my daughter, I will take down that sword and say, 'Son, step into my den for a little talk!'"
Simpson Slammed for Safari

is facing a barrage of criticism from humanitarian agencies after she allegedly interrupted a 10-day charity visit to Kenya with a $1,500 safari, despite insisting she was too ill to visit local children. The singer reportedly spent just two days with Operation Smile - a charity repairing facial deformities in children - before embarking on a recreational trip of the same length in the Masai Mara National Reserve last week. A representative for the charity says, "Jessica got sick, like people do, and couldn't get out of bed." But the excuse has been challenged by a hotel insider who alleges, "Simpson was not ill, no doctor was called out to see her." Referring to the safari, an Operation Smile spokesperson says, "It was scheduled downtime." The reality TV star's trip is thought to have cost a staggering $12,500.
