Perfect pairs

December 4, 2005

BY PAIGE WISER STAFF REPORTER

Breasts are a sensitive subject, at least for celebrities. Are they real? Fake? Or did they get implants, remove the implants, reinstall smaller implants, remove those too, and then opt for a surgical lift?

For the most part, they're not saying.

And yet they occasionally make the news. A survey of 2,000 British men concluded that Catherine Zeta-Jones had the perfect pair, and that men thought about them -- breasts in general, not just Zeta-Jones' -- at least once a day.

Fluff thought we'd help you meet your quota.

Nicollette Sheridan

"They're impressive," said Marc Cherry, the creator of "Desperate Housewives," when he checked them out at Sheridan's audition. She's denied plastic surgery, but the Internet hasn't stopped buzzing about what look to be some obvious enhancements.

Real? Maybe

Mariah Carey

Mimi has emancipated her bosoms, at least from her recent ensembles. Sharon Osbourne famously announced that Carey had had implants, but Carey called the claim "hilarious." "I suppose it must have been the best boob job in the world if I didn't even remember it," Carey said. Her chest does appear bigger, but then again, so does the rest of her.

Real? Yes

Scarlett Johansson

She hoisted them high for her first Oscars ceremony, and caught our attention. "My breasts are definitely my best feature," Johansson has said. "They're my leading ladies." She is wise beyond her years.

Real? Yes

Jessica Simpson

It's been oft repeated, and we're going to do it again. Simpson's creepy manager father once noted, "She's got double D's! You can't cover those suckers up!" They even maintained their admirable size during her vigorous training for "The Dukes of Hazzard."

Real? Yes

Pamela Anderson

She's certainly been upfront about her implants over the years, taking them in and out, changing bra sizes faster than she changes fiancés. "I don't even understand the fascination with them," Anderson has said. And no one ever seems to notice her world-class backside.

Real? No

Tyra Banks

Uncharacteristically top-heavy for a high-fashion model, Banks found a home in the pages of the Victoria's Secret catalog. Many assumed she'd had surgery. She recently used her new talk show as a forum to prove them wrong, asking the men in the audience to leave while an ultrasound was conducted on her chest.

Real? Yes

Tara Reid

Reid isn't the first starlet to flash her surgically inflated breasts, but she's the most famous to flash the scars of what looked to be a botched job on the red carpet. Awfulplasticsurgery.com had a field day.

Real? No

Lindsay Lohan

It was rumored that Disney had to digitally downsize her prodigious breasts for the movie "Herbie: Fully Loaded." Then, when Lohan drastically lost weight, she lost her cleavage, too.

Real? Yes

Britney Spears

Serious students of Spears' breasts are fascinated by the way they seem to change size, like the way some eyes look as though they've changed color. Some days, she'd appear to be a 32B, and then, in the right bustier, right up to a 34D. Currently, she's sporting some authentic-looking post-pregnancy breasts.

Real? Yes

Salma Hayek

The Weekly World News has reported that an African tribe worships Hayek's breasts, and villagers dance themselves into a frenzy while chanting, "Oh glorious funbags of Salma, fertilize our fields, protect us, and bring us luck." Always voluptuous, onlookers have noticed that lately her sacred orbs have taken on "stripper-esque proportions."

Real? Maybe
