HIS work has been absent from our screens for some time, but South Australian director Scott Hicks is cooking up a storm for his feature return.
As this first look on-set image from New York reveals, Hicks has turned to a beautiful Oscar winner for his first film since 2001's Hearts in Atlantis.
Catherine Zeta-Jones (The Mask of Zorro) has taken the title role in Mostly Martha, an English-language remake of a 2001 German film. She plays a top chef whose life is changed by becoming the guardian of her niece, Ella (Abigail Breslin).
Hicks was rugged up on the streets of New York as he helped young actress Breslin with a scene involving Zeta-Jones.
Co-starring Aaron Eckhart (Erin Brockovich) and Patricia Clarkson (The Station Agent), romantic comedy Mostly Martha will be released next year.
As with his Hicks' past films, post production work will occur in Adelaide at the Kojo Group's Kent Town facilities. Members of the Kojo Group returned to Adelaide this week, having helped to set up Mostly Martha's production offices.
Although specific details have been closely guarded, Kojo reported that "all is well" with Hicks' shoot.
