HOLLYWOOD star Michael Douglas is to be honoured by a Scottish university a stone’s throw from one of his favourite golf courses.

Michael, 61, will receive an honorary law degree at St Andrews University in June for his contribution to British film.

The Fatal Attraction star and wife Catherine Zeta Jones are regulars on the tees at the nearby famous Old Course.

University principal Brian Lang said: "Michael is a major figure in contemporary cinema, a major film producer, movie actor and frequent visitor to St Andrews."

Michael will be joined at the ceremony by BBC newsreader Anna Ford who will also get an honorary degree.

Others previously honoured by the university include Bob Dylan, Nick Faldo and ex-footballer Denis Law.
