She may be 38, but Catherine Zeta-Jones says she has yet to hit her peak when it comes to sex appeal.

The actress, who showed off her car-crash curves in a series of stylish outfits while on a promotional visit to Australia, insists her best is yet to come.

The star, who has two children Dylan, 7, and Carys, 4, revealed: "I'm not going to be playing old grannies anytime soon.

"In my next movie, you'll be seeing a lot more of me, put it that way.

“You see, I haven't actually reached my sexiest point yet."

The same could not be said for her husband Michael Douglas.

In the past, Douglas has long attempted to preserve his looks but at 63 it seems time has finally caught up him.

Time for an age-defying act: Michael Douglas looked his age as he left Il Sole restaurant in LA on Friday evening

He has spent a fortune on plastic surgery, having the first facelift he will admit to for his wedding seven years ago and is also rumoured to have had a tummy tuck and liposuction.

But as the actor was photographed leaving an LA restaurant last night, he looked every inch his age with mottled skin and deep wrinkles.

The Hollywood heavyweight didn't join his wife, who is 25 years his junior, on the trip Down Under, where she is promoting her new film Death Defying Acts.

Catherine plays deceptive psychic, Mary McGarvie in the period biopic of the life of Harry Houdini.

She stars alongside former Neighbours actor turned Hollywood star Guy Pearce, who plays Hungarian born Houdini, widely regarded as the greatest ever escapologist.

Young at heart: the actor has long attempted to preserve his looks with surgery

Michael looks fine. I don't think she married his youthful looks anyway. She sees him more closely than any of us do, and if she feels comfortable with him, that's good. It would be good if we could adjust to the fact that movie stars really do age. I don't want Michael or Catherine or some other star becoming a recluse because of us.

He is 25 years older. What would one expect? An artist could draw her 25 years into the future. She will still be beautiful I'm sure. Just as he is still good looking at his age.

I think that Catherine loves Michael very much I think that seeing pictures of Michael is not the same as seeing him in the flesh and that he is a very charismatic man. They seem so in love with each other what has looks got to do with it.
